Welcome Sun

IMG_2545Even as the brutally cold weather refuses to release us from its grip, the sun edges closer and actually sheds some heat on our shivering world.  Snow on the barn roof is beginning a slow downward slide, and the Barn Cats, Boo and Otis take every opportunity to soak up some rays.  Even on the coldest day, they are warm to the touch after ‘sunbathing’ for a while!

When the forecast called for an overnight temperature of – 20 degrees F, I felt so sorry for them, I put a heating pad under their bed, but was concerned about safety, so I bought them a Pet Bed Warmer, which can be heated in the microwave, and promises to stay warm for hours. With shipping, it came to almost $50, but they love it, and it bought me some peace of mind. 🙂

Even Sherlock, safe inside the warm house, likes to make the most of the sunlight, streaming into our living room, but is far less dignified than the Barn Cats! 🙂

Today, we are enjoying a some relief as the temperature nears 30 degrees, but we will be dropping back to -13 degrees on Sunday night.
