Fungi and Frost

IMG_3156Lots of fungi around this year, due to all the rain we have had.  I found these growing on the lawn a few days ago. I had assumed they would be toxic, but clearly, one of them had been nibbled on by something.  By the next day they were both completely gone.  Something apparently found them to be a tasty snack!IMG_3159

Recent frosty mornings have presented some interesting photo ops, decorating spider webs and Dandelion seed heads with sparkling dew.IMG_3165IMG_3175

Warmer temperatures have returned for now, but more cold nights are in the forecast.  I have to check the outside temperature in the morning to decide whether to put on Summer or Winter clothes!

A couple of below freezing nights finished off my potted plants, and I threw them out and put away the pots for the season.  Guess that makes it Officially Fall!

  1. The spider webs are beautiful – even though it means its sparkle is due to the cold.

    • On warmer mornings, they would not even be visible!
