A Welcome Break
I have lived in Michigan too long to be fooled into thinking this is really Spring, but this warm-up is a blessed relief, and we are enjoying it while it lasts! March is a notoriously fickle month here, and it is not unusual for us to get snowstorms well into April, but yesterday, when I could walk Abbie without hat or scarf, was such a treat!
We had fog this morning, which made for some nice photo ops, but the overnight freeze made for uncertain footing. The road in the Park was a combination of ice, snow and frozen slush, and I shortened our walk, afraid of taking a tumble. Things had improved a lot by this afternoon, and if the warmer weather continue for a few more days as promised, much of the snow and ice should be gone for the time being.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are singing and Woodpeckers are drumming in the woods, claiming their territory for the coming breeding season, so we can start to believe Winter is finally loosening its grip.
I have put away the snow-pants for the time being, happy not to have to dress like an arctic explorer before venturing outside! 🙂
