Oriole Visitors

OrioleFor the last couple of years, I have had good luck attracting Orioles with a dish of grape jelly placed on the deck railing.  I put a small container of jelly in a dish of water to discourage ants, and it works quite well.Female Oriole After a seemingly endless Winter and delayed Spring, it is nice to have something colorful to photograph for a change.

We are finally beginning to warm up a little, but have had almost twice our normal amount of rain for May.  Our lawn and pastures are lush and green, but it is a challenge to keep up with the mowing.

Usually by now I am getting ready to plant flowers, but haven’t even visited the garden center yet.  With warmer tempatures in the forecast, perhaps I will be inspired to do that this week!
