Change on the Way

Maple BudsAfter literally months of complaining about cold weather, we have finally been able to enjoy a few days of summer-like temperatures.

Yesterday the frogs were singing so loudly, it almost made my ears ring, but today high winds are heralding a sudden change on the way.  We could have measurable snow tonight as temperatures dip back down into the 20’s.  I hope this sudden return to Winter will not last too long.  It has been so nice to leave the gloves, hats, scarves and snow pants off for our walks.American Robin

The warm days have encouraged some of the trees to begin budding, and the Park is full of Robins and Redwing Blackbirds, and there is a small group of migrating Common Mergansers on the lake (too far away for photos).

The rangers have opened the gate into the campgrounds, and we have been taking our walks there.  There is still a lot of cleanup left to do from December’s ice storm, and there will be no shortage of kindling for campfires this season!

    • We ended up with about 3 inches of snow, and I think you did too. Hope that is the last of it for the season! 🙂
