Streams Are Ripe
Although we are impatient for warmer weather, it is probably a blessing the thaw has been so slow. With so much snow on the ground, flooding would have been a big problem in a sudden thaw. As it is, streams and rivers are swollen and flooding in places, but no real damage has been done.No sign of anything beginning to leaf out yet, but I did find some Aspen Catkins in the Park on Wednesday. Good to see some signs of life!Mornings in the Park are full of birdsong now. The Cardinals and Titmice have now been joined by Doves, Redwing Blackbirds and the drumming of Woodpeckers. It’s good to hear them after the long silence of Winter.
