Even after several days of above freezing temperatures, some snow and ice still linger. Abbie and I checked out the Nature Conservancy on Monday, but the footing was a combination of ice and mud, so we did not venture very far. It will take a few more days for conditions to improve, especially in the shaded areas. We did make it as far as one of the ponds, which although still frozen, shows signs of thawing.
However reluctantly, Spring is coming. I found some Aspen Catkins beginning to emerge today, and the spillway from the lake in the Park is in full spate. My mother’s computer died at about the same time as mine did. Since she lives alone, we like to e-mail each other on the days I don’t see her, so I know she is okay. Like me, she was using Windows XP and had to upgrade to Windows 8.1, so we are both now in the same boat, blundering around in the new system with varying degrees of success and frustration. We have both had some ups and downs, but I think if we persist, we will get the hang of it eventually! 🙂
