Taking to Higher Ground
Like many cats, Sherlock is not fond of company. He usually makes himself scarce when visitors come, and is practically invisible when our daughter arrives with the two granddaughters and Willow, the Greyhound.
For some reason Willow really freaks Sherlock out. I will admit a Greyhound is a unique looking dog, but Willow is the gentlest, least threatening creature I have ever met. But even after many visits, he still views her with deep suspicion. He no longer turns into Halloween Kitty with arched back and raised fur when they meet, but he still stays well out of her way. Willow, for her part seemed quite puzzled at his reaction at first, but now simply ignores him.
We are finally having a taste of Spring today, with sunshine and temperatures in the mid forties, and it is supposed to be close to sixty tomorrow. The snow is reluctantly retreating, and I am hoping to be able to walk Abbie on our ‘back forty’ before too long. Of course, once the snow is gone, we will be dealing with mud, but even that will be a welcome change!
