Bumper Crop

Blackberries

The cold snap we had last Spring devastated the fruit crops in Michigan, but it looks like we will have a bumper crop this year.  Our half-wild apple trees are full of tiny apples, and this morning, I came across some picture perfect Blackberries just beginning to ripen.

Baby Apples

Our weather has gone from unusually hot and humid to unusually cool, and I am trying to make the most of it by getting some outside chores done.  We finished cleaning up the mess from the downed trees in the pasture, and I did some pruning on the Lilac and Forsythia bushes.

Brown Dog

The hot, humid weather brought out the Mosquitoes and Deer Flies in large numbers, so Abbie and I avoided the woods for a while.  Now that it has cooled off we have been enjoying the trails again so our walks have been longer.  Could not resist taking some photos of her, relaxing after a long walk.  Does this dog have a good life or what?

  1. We don’t spray or prune our apple trees, so the apples won’t be pretty, but the horses and deer will enjoy them. Thanks for stopping by. Jane

Yes, we also had a loss of berries and apples last year so we are looking forward to a good harvest this year. Those blackberries look perfect 🙂 Annie
