Come She Will
April, come she will, when streams are ripe and swelled with rain.
I guess I am showing my age by quoting Simon and Garfunkel, but this song tends to run through my head as this time of year.
A couple of milder days and a good deal of rain have indeed swelled the streams and rivers, but now we are back to cold and snow.
This morning, in spite of a fresh fall of snow and chilly temperatures, the Park was full of the cheerful chirring of Redwing Blackbirds. They may not have the prettiest song in the bird world, but we are always delighted to hear it, as they are among the first of the summer birds to return to Michigan. Right now, any sign of Spring is welcome, as the weather is just not cooperating!
