Street Party

With The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee so much in the news, I thought I would share a photo taken of the street party we attended on Coronation Day.  That’s me in the front (#45)!  My older sister is further back in the crowd, but probably would not thank me for pointing her out!

I don’t have very clear memories of this day so many years ago, and I have no idea what the man on the ground is doing!

  1. As my TV isn’t tuned in right now I couldn’t watch any of the celebrations. That is a very interesting photograph though. Would love to know the significance of the man on the ground, lol.

  3. I believe we bought our very first TV set just so we could watch the ceremony. It was a very exciting day. Hard to believe it was sixty years ago. Makes me feel very old!

  4. How cool is that, you lucky duck, to have such a nice picture!! I remember Coronation Day and getting a special mug from school. We also had to go round to my Aunt’s to watch the Coronation on TV as we didn’t have one then and I recall how we all sat round the set, eating sandwiches, not wanting to miss a moment of the action.
