New Buds

It was May before wildflowers began to make an appearance last year, so I was delighted to come across these delicate little buds on our walk yesterday morning.

We did not see our visiting swans on the lake this weekend, and I thought perhaps they had headed north, but I found them yesterday at a more secluded part of the lake, well away from the campgrounds.  This part of the lake is very shallow, more swamp than lake really, and not particularly attractive.  I jokingly refer to it as ‘The Slough of Despond’, but it is wonderful habitat for wildlife.

  1. I enjoyed seeing your wildflower photos, and I got a chuckle from reading about “The Slough of Despond”.
