Giving Thanks

November seems to be flying by and here we are just a few days away from Thanksgiving.

Our Thanksgiving celebration is a little different from most families.  Our daughter lives in Canada and celebrates Thanksgiving in October.  My sister and her husband now live in Arizona, so we don’t have the large family gathering of years gone by.

Our good friends are in a similar situation, with no extended family living close by, just a daughter and her boyfriend, so some years ago, we decided to pool our resources and share the holiday.  It is so much better than sitting down to a holiday dinner with only three or four people!  That leads to an insane amount of leftover turkey!

Sometimes I feel a little sad when I hear people around me planning a dinner for 8, or 12, or 20, but I am very grateful to our friends for including us as ‘family’.

And when all is said and done, I do have much to be thankful for.
