And More Gloomy Days

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

These have been good days for curling up on the couch, (which is Abbie’s favorite pastime anyway!).  We have had two inches of rain in the past two days and our walks have been much shorter than usual.

It was fun to see how the kittens dealt with the inclement weather.  They went outside eagerly enough when we opened up the barn, but kept coming back in and licking themselves.  They then tried going out the other door, perhaps thinking the weather would be better at that end, only to find it was raining there too!  They were more than happy to spend the rest of the day inside.

In view of the nasty weather, I decided comfort food would be in order for dinner, so I started a hearty stew in the crock pot.  The downside of that was we could smell it cooking all day and by three o’clock I was famished!  Had to force myself to wait until five to serve it up, which was an hour ahead of our usual dinner time.

The weather people have promised us sunshine for today, but there is no sign of it yet.

Ah, this is a great example of a “dog toe bouquet” picture! We’ve been discussing dog toe bouquets–when dogs gather all their paws up–on my blog. Very cute picture.

    • What a lovely way to describe it! We have always referred to it as ‘looking like she is hog-tied’! Not nearly as poetic as ‘dog toe boquet’!

  2. The look on Abbie’s face says it all, as far as the weather’s concerned. And yes, I agree, one of the best things about cold weather is the excuse to make stew!
